Viewing garden in a courtyard located between two post-war apartment buildings on Central Park South. Designed for varied perspectives, the garden can be experienced from a ground floor window-lined passage and rotunda space as well as from the apartment windows surrounding and looking down onto the garden. A formal geometry of linear vine trellises, and a parterre of crushed stone, shredded rubber, glass marbles and shade tolerant evergreen ground covers play against the organic forms of existing trees to create a heightened sense of scale, depth and visual mystery.
Sited in the garden are sculptures by Isamu Noguchi, Chaim Gross and Michele Oka Doner.
